We offer a number of training opportunities that are available to the campus and local community. The staff of the NC State GLBT Center is also available to assist with developing training programs. There are also numerous training opportunities regarding diversity and equity across campus. Some examples are the Equal Opportunity Institute (EOI) and the National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI).
Equal Opportunity Institute(EOI)
An award-winning NC State program designed to provide university students and employees a means for developing a comprehensive understanding of equal opportunity issues. Institute participants broaden their knowledge base and also learn how this information can be applied in their day-to-day activities and interactions. Through their individual and collective efforts, Equal Opportunity Institute participants help NC State and our community build a better place to work, learn, and live. To learn more about EOI go to http://www.ncsu.edu/eoi/. The EOI is an initiative out of the Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity. Project SAFE and Transgender 101 are elective options as a part of the program.
National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI)
In 2001, NC State became a Campus Affiliate of NCBI. Members of the campus community were trained as facilitators to present NCBI’s prejudice reduction workshop and conflict resolution workshop. Since then, the NCBI team has presented workshops for numerous campus groups. NCBI has also been incorporated into the Bachelor’s of Social Work curriculum. NCBI has a number of developed programs and training modules to educate students and employees about issues of discrimination, harassment, prejudice, and diversity.
